Introducing Geosense
We are very excited to be able to introduce a new range of structural health monitoring, geotechnical and condition monitoring equipment to PCTE and to announce our partnership with Geosense.
Geosense are one of Europe’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of instruments to the geotechnical, civil, mining and environmental industries. They are experts with vibrating wire sensors and offer a comprehensive range of sensors, readouts and data loggers.
With PCTE’s partnership we can now offer the same support, technical advice and expertise we always have for their complete range.
Vibrating Wire Strain Gauges
Strain gauges offer the ability to measure the effect of loads, settlement or other changes in a structure. Geosense offers embeddable gauges ideal for use in freshly cast concrete, along with surface mount and spot weld gauges.

Vibrating Wire Rebar Strain Meter and Sister Bar
A Geosense® VWS-4000 series vibrating wire Rebar Strain Meters (often known as ‘sister bars’) are designed to be embedded in concrete to measure strains due to imposed loads in mass concrete. They are ideal for use in cast piles to determine the degree of load passed into the soil.
Sister Bar
The VWS-4000 Sister Bar is installed by tying it alongside an existing length of rebar within the cage.
Rebar Strain Meter
The VWS-4001 Rebar Strain Meter is installed by welding it into the existing rebar cage at a location within the structure where loads can be accurately passed from the concrete into the gauge.

Vibrating Wire Crack Meter
Geosense® VWCM-4000 crack meters are used to measure movement across surface cracks and joints in concrete, rock, soil and structures.

Rock Anchor Extensometer
Geosense® Measuring Anchors are a combination of a rock bolt and an extensometer and are used to determine the load exerted on rock bolts.
They consist of a hollow anchor body, the sectional area and material of which corresponds to that of the rock anchor being monitored.

Anchor Load Cells
Anchor Load Cells are used to measure the load acting on rock bolts, struts, tie backs, props and similar elements
Vibrating Wire
Geosense® VWLC 5000 series Vibrating Wire Anchor Load Cells consist of a cylinder of high strength steel with 3 to 6 vibrating wire strain sensors (depending on capacity) mounted parallel to the longitudinal axis arranged equidistant around the circumference to measure the compression of the cylinder under load.

Strain Gauge
The Geosense® SGLC 7000 series load cell consists of a cylinder of high strength steel with a series of electrical resistance strain gauges connected around the periphery as a Wheatstone Bridge that compensates for unevenly distributed loads and provides a single mV/V signal output.

Vibrating Wire Piezometer
Geosense® VWP-3000 Series of Vibrating Wire Piezometers use the well-proven method of converting fluid pressures on a sensitive diaphragm into a frequency signal.
Vibrating Wire Liquid Settlement System
The Geosense® VWLSS-200 Vibrating Wire Liquid Settlement System is used to monitor settlement or heave in soils and other structures such as embankments, earth and rockfill dams.
Magnetic Extensometer
The Geosense® GEO-XM settlement system is used typically to monitor settlement and heave in foundations, excavations and embankments. Settlement is identified at the depth/position where the settlement has occurred and as well as measuring the total amount of settlement.
Vibrating Wire Settlement Profiler
The Geosense® Vibrating Wire Settlement Profiler is used for the measurement of subsurface settlement. A vibrating wire sensor is located within a probe that can be pulled through a buried pipe or borehole. The sensor is connected via a liquid-filled tube mounted on a reel which is mounted horizontally at the reservoir location on stable ground.
The reel is free to turn as the probe is pulled through the pipe or borehole. The sensor measures the hydraulic head of liquid between the sensor and the reservoir locations.
