PM8000 NRC Update

October 1, 2024

The latest firmware update for Screening Eagle Technology's Proceq PM8000 Cover Meter improves the options and performance of Standalone PM8000 Neighbouring Rebar Correction.

Measuring cover depth on curved concrete elements like piles, columns and curved wall presents a number of difficulties:

  • The curve makes it hard to place large probes, or probes with wheels correctly for an accurate measurement.
  • Column ties are closest to the surface, small in diameter and backed by large diameter vertical bars, heavily interfering with cover measurements without correction.

Neighbouring Rebar Correction is a function that has been available within Proceq cover meters since the Profoscope, it corrects for the diameter and pitch (Lateral Space between bars) to ensure performance in dense rebar configurations.

The latest versions account for Longitudinal and Latitudinal bars and size difference between them. This firmware update now provides this functionality with the PM8000 Lite, and allows it to be used when a PM8000 or PM8000 Pro are removed from their wheeled cart.

With correct settings operators can now achieve an accuracy of +/- 1mm for rebar depths up to 50mm, meeting the performance required for specifications like IC-DC-B80 (TS 01733.2).
